The Dangers of Vaping – A National Institute of Health Study
Recently I heard a podcast where the host spoke concerning the dangers of vaping while driving. He compared the act to smoking cigarettes and implied that vaporizers are as bad as smoking marijuana. This is an extreme view that is shared by many, but I’d like to present the reality on the problem.
First off, it’s important to understand that vaporizers do not contain any harmful chemical compounds while they’re in use. As with any kind of tobacco use, tobacco and its own ingredient tar in e-cigarette materials are harmful to your health. But what about vaporizers containing nicotine? Nicotine is still dangerous to your health and should be avoided no matter what.
Just how can vaporizers which contain nicotine be compared to e-books and other electronic cigarette products? Well, nicotine is still delivered in to the body through the skin, which is why vaporizers are this type of problem. Nicotine gets absorbed through the lining of the lungs into the bloodstream, causing short-term respiratory problems including coughing and wheezing. Long run, it can lead to conditions that affect the center, including clogged arteries and stroke.
In contrast, there has been hardly any research on the dangers of vaporing in comparison to smoking. So what are the dangers of e-cigarette vapors? According to the Surgeon General, among the worst toxins contained in vaporized marijuana is formaldehyde. Also, e-cigarettes contain higher degrees of tar and more harmful chemicals than ever before. We know that tar is carcinogenic; now we know that it’s even more toxic in mixtures than it is alone. Tar and other chemicals can cause cancers, not just nicotine poisoning.
The largest danger of E-Cigarettes is likely to be long-term contact with inhale nicotine, because it is highly addictive. In case you are trying to stop smoking cold turkey, you need to strongly consider cutting out your usage immediately and steer clear of any experimentation with low flavored E-Cigarettes and soon you are completely finished with your goal. By cutting out all use of e-cigarettes, you will drastically reduce your likelihood of gaining an individual, or multiple, cigarettes from your current habit.
It’s also advisable to know that a great deal of research has been done on what E-Cigarette vapors affect the cardiovascular system. Researchers have discovered that smokers who were exposed to high concentrations of nicotine over prolonged periods of time developed cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. However, the chemicals made by constant E-Cigarette smoking is extremely dangerous. Studies have shown that long-term E-Cigarette smoking can result in degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cause chemical imbalances in the brain.
In line with the FDA, electronic cigarettes should not be marketed to children beneath the age of 18. Google scholar is a good source for the most recent medical research on this topic. According to the FDA, electronic cigarettes should not be made available over the Internet either. These laws were recently passed by Congress and have yet to be overturned by the Bush administration. There have been conflicting studies on the dangers of E-Cigarette smoking. Most doctors agree that electronic cigarettes should not be distributed around people unless they are harmed and perhaps killed.
Another study performed by the American Cancer Society discovered that some electronic cigarettes contain flavorings which could affect a person’s ability to properly discern whether they are smoking. Google scholar has published a thorough, peer reviewed amicus curiae on the dangers of E-Cigarette flavourings. The amicus curiae was compiled by three top researchers from the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the American Psychological Association. The amicus curiae indicates that there is “an emerging body of research suggesting that the flavours of electronic cigarettes may contribute to the upsurge in cancer risk for smokers.” Among the flavoring ingredients is menthol, which includes been shown to be extremely addicting, particularly when the user goes cold turkey and starts inhaling again.
One of the things the amicus indicates is that these studies are mostly vapinger observational in nature and they are not designed to determine whether or not these claims are in fact true.
